We’re working with a progressive mixed farming enterprise expanding their feedlot alongside a cropping operation. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with solid feedlot experience who’s ready to step into a role with real responsibility and be part of a growing operation.
With construction underway, this position will play a key role in supporting the expansion while keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.
The Role
You will be working closely with the owners and involved across all aspects of the feedlot, including:
- Daily feeding and stock management
- Monitoring and reading cattle
- General livestock husbandry
- Working alongside contractors during construction
- Supporting and leading staff on the ground
- Maintaining accurate records and completing day-to-day bookwork
- General feedlot maintenance and operations
- Assisting with feed milling coordination and site operations
- Supporting environmental compliance and site standards
You’ll be outside getting the job done, but also across the detail behind the scenes.
This role carries real responsibility across the operation, with a focus on livestock performance, staff coordination, site standards and maintaining high levels of animal welfare, nutrition, efficiency and profitability.
About You
- Previous feedlot and cattle experience is essential
- Ideally 3 – 5+ years’ experience in intensive livestock or feedlot systems
- Strong understanding of feedlot processes from start to finish
- Confident leading a team and working alongside contractors
- Sound knowledge of feeding systems, animal health and livestock performance
- Experience with Elynx/BMS highly regarded
- Practical, reliable and willing to get into the day-to-day work
- Good attention to detail with record keeping and reporting
- Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude
- Comes from an agricultural and machinery background
- Holds a current driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and solid references
