The AgWay Recruitment is seeking an Experienced / Senior Farm Hand to join a progressive family farming operation near Clare, South Australia.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone with solid broadacre cropping experience who enjoys operating modern machinery, takes pride in maintaining equipment and is looking to become a valued member of a close-knit team. Alongside the cropping enterprise, the business also operates a sheep feedlot and contract farming operation, providing plenty of variety throughout the year.

About the Farm

  • Dryland cropping operation
  • Sheep feedlot finishing approximately 4,000 lambs annually
  • Contract farming operations
  • Crops include wheat, barley, beans, canola and oats

Your Responsibilities

  • Operate modern broadacre machinery throughout all stages of the cropping cycle
  • Operate a Rogator 1300 self-propelled sprayer, including mixing chemicals and applying rates independently
  • Operate GPS-guided machinery
  • Carry out general machinery servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Assist with sheep feedlot operations as required
  • Support all aspects of day-to-day farm activities
  • Operate machinery with a strong focus on safety and equipment care

Machinery

  • CNH tractors
  • Case IH 8240 headers
  • Rogator 1300 self-propelled sprayer
  • Modern GPS guidance systems

About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Previous broadacre cropping experience
  • Experience operating self-propelled sprayers
  • Confidence mixing chemicals and spraying unsupervised
  • Good mechanical skills with the ability to carry out routine machinery maintenance
  • Strong communication skills
  • A genuine pride in maintaining machinery and equipment
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A current driver’s licence
  • A truck licence will be highly regarded
