Due to business expansion, we are seeking a proactive and self-motivated individual to join our team as an Assistant Cropping Manager. We are a family-run business engaged in mixed dryland and irrigated cropping, cattle breeding and a feedlot, farming over 7,000 hectares of wheat, barley, oats, chickpeas, sorghum, maize, and cotton.

Role and Responsibilities:

As the Assistant Cropping Manager, you will report directly to the Cropping Manager. The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for agriculture and a drive for personal growth, with a commitment to maintaining a tidy and efficient workplace.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and collaborating with the cropping team
  • Managing the prioritisation of work programmes and task completion
  • Overseeing the efficiency of the spraying programme
  • Operating plant and machinery, including boom sprayers
  • Training staff in machinery use and proper operational procedures
  • Supervising irrigation processes
  • Maintaining machines and farm assets
  • Ensuring cleanliness of machinery and the general appearance of the farm
  • Upholding safety standards, including strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) use

Requirements:

  • Quick learner with the ability to positively teach others
  • Meticulous in both paper and electronic record-keeping
  • A ‘lead from the front’ attitude
  • Experience with John Deere GPS systems
  • At least four years’ experience in broadacre cropping
  • Experience in flood irrigation (desirable but not essential)
  • A current manual driver’s licence (HC or MC is essential)
