We are seeking an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to join a well-established farming operation near Collarenebri, New South Wales. 

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can take initiative, lead by example, and support the day-to-day running of the farm alongside the owners. If you have previous farming experience, you’re reliable, easy to get along with, and genuinely keen to work, this could be a great long-term opportunity.

The Operation

  • Predominately dryland farming
  • Crops include wheat, barley and chickpeas
  • Breeding and fattening cattle (small herd)

The Role
This is a practical and varied position with duties including:

  • Supporting farm planning and daily operations
  • Operating and maintaining machinery during planting, spraying and harvesting
  • Spraying and chemical handling (mixing rates unsupervised)
  • General servicing, maintenance and basic repairs
  • Working with livestock as required
  • Using GPS systems and technology to support efficient operations
  • Helping supervise work and keep things running smoothly during busy periods

You’ll be working with a quality fleet including:

  • Versatile 570
  • John Deere 310R
  • Case 8250 header
  • Case 4430 sprayer
  • Hayes Weed-It camera sprayer
  • Boss planters
  • Kenworth trucks and Moore trailers
  • Honda quads

GPS Systems: Trimble & GreenStar

What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in a similar assistant manager / overseer position
  • Confidence with GPS systems (Trimble / GreenStar experience highly valued)
  • Mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot
  • Ability to work independently and be trusted to get the job done
  • Strong communication and a team-first attitude
  • A good work ethic and commitment to safety
  • Driver’s licence required

Hours & Remuneration 

  • Full-time position with a probation period
  • Approx. 50 hours per week, with additional hours during planting, spraying and harvesting
  • Package to be discussed, paid fortnightly
