An established mixed farming operation in Queensland’s Western Downs region is looking for an Experienced Farm Hand, with the potential for ongoing work for the right applicant.

This is a substantial operation offering plenty of variety throughout the seasons. The successful applicant will be involved in broadacre cropping, machinery operation, a beef cattle trading program and general day-to-day duties across the property.

The position could suit either an Experienced Farm Hand with a family or a single applicant looking for ongoing work within a varied mixed farming operation.

The Role
Duties will include:

  • Operating a range of broadacre farming machinery
  • Assisting with planting, spraying and harvest
  • Working within the beef cattle trading program
  • Cattle mustering and stock handling
  • General machinery servicing and maintenance
  • Property repairs and upkeep
  • Working independently and as part of the team

About You
We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous broadacre farming or machinery experience
  • Has cattle handling and mustering experience
  • Is capable, reliable and willing to get in and have a go
  • Takes pride in their work and looks after machinery and property
  • Can work independently once familiar with the operation
  • Has good practical and problem-solving skills
  • Holds a current driver’s licence
  • Can provide relevant work-related references

A mechanical, fabrication or other trade background would be highly regarded, although it is not essential.

Accommodation
Quality accommodation is available depending on the successful applicant’s circumstances:

  • A very recently renovated, unfurnished family home with two large living areas; or
  • A mostly furnished cottage suitable for a single applicant

The family home has been extensively updated and provides comfortable accommodation for an applicant relocating with their family.
