Hands-on Feedlot Manager role near Roma, QLD, leading day-to-day operations within a growing family-run operation backed by good people.

Full Job Description
This is a newly created position due to expansion, offering the right person the opportunity to step into a hands-on leadership role and take ownership of the day-to-day running of an established feedlot.
I’ve been on farm and seen the setup firsthand. These are good, down-to-earth operators with a solid team behind them. They’re looking for someone who can lead from the front, work well with people and get things done, while playing an important role in the continued growth of the operation.

The Role
You’ll oversee the day-to-day feedlot and property operations, working closely with the owners and team to keep things running efficiently, maintain strong safety and operational standards, and ensure cattle and feeding routines stay on track.
This isn’t a sit-behind-a-desk management role. They’re looking for someone who is hands-on, organised and comfortable getting involved when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the owners to plan and organise daily tasks and priorities
  • Lead, coordinate and support the team
  • Ensure work is completed to a high standard and oversee contractors when required
  • Keep cattle and feeding routines on track
  • Maintain the feedlot and property to a high standard
  • Keep the team informed and ensure safety systems and compliance requirements are followed
  • Lead by example and help maintain a positive, inclusive workplace

About You

  • Strong work ethic with a proactive attitude
  • Takes ownership, shows initiative and gets on with the job
  • Confident leading and coordinating staff, particularly through periods of growth
  • Good with people and able to build a positive team environment
  • Hands-on and willing to be involved in day-to-day operations
  • Organised with good communication and time management skills
  • Open to learning, feedback and continuous improvement
  • Experience with Livestock Junction is highly regarded

Requirements

  • Previous farming or feedlot management experience
  • Strong people skills with the ability to lead, communicate with and support a team
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Additional licences and tickets are an advantage
