We’re seeking a reliable, hands-on Caretaker to oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operation of a rural property near Charleville, Queensland.
This is a varied casual role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining a property to a high standard and is confident working independently.
You’ll be responsible for property maintenance, livestock care, machinery operation and helping ensure the property continues to run smoothly.
About the Role
No two days are the same.
Your responsibilities will include:
Property & Grounds Maintenance
- Mowing, whipper snipping and general care of lawns and gardens
- Weed control
- General upkeep of the homestead, sheds, and surrounding facilities
- Completing minor repairs and general maintenance as required
Livestock Care
- Conducting regular water and lick runs
- Monitoring livestock health and reporting any concerns
Infrastructure & Machinery
- Operation of small machinery including tractor (forks, bucket, slasher)
- Carrying out basic servicing and preventative maintenance on machinery
- Maintaining water infrastructure, including tanks, troughs and pipelines
- Inspecting and repairing internal and boundary fences
General Property Duties
- Monitoring the security of buildings and infrastructure
- Reporting maintenance requirements and property updates
- Maintaining a safe, tidy and organised workplace
- Undertaking other general property duties as required
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working on rural properties
- Is confident operating basic agricultural machinery
- Has good mechanical aptitude and can carry out basic servicing and maintenance
- Can work independently and manage their own workload
- Has excellent communication skills
- Is reliable, honest and self-motivated
- Takes pride in maintaining a property to a high standard
- Is physically fit and enjoys working outdoors
- Holds a current driver’s licence
- Must be able to adhere to workplace health and safety policies and procedures
- Must have work related references
Desirable Qualifications
The following are desirable, however a willingness to obtain them will also be considered:
- Chemical Accreditation (Level 3)
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Low Stress Stock Handling
- Experience operating basic agricultural machinery, including a tractor
